Dearest Readers,
The seasons are shifting and so too is life here in my valley of blooms. The dahlias, ever the showoffs, are still flowering, though more coyly now. With the cooler nights, their blooms linger longer, holding court as though they know their season is drawing to a close. The apples have all been plucked, the baskets emptied, and the Halloween decorations are out to greet passing ghouls and goblins. Autumn has well and truly taken up residence.
And so, while the fields grow quieter, the excitement moves elsewhere. My darling dahlia tubers are now available for pre order on the website www.dearestdahlia.ie. They will be dispatched in early spring, ready for you to tuck into your gardens with the promise of a summer riot of colour. A little patience now, for a grand show later.
Meanwhile, my little Curiosity Shop still stands open. Should you wish to step inside and browse the treasures, simply send me a private message and I shall open the doors just for you. A Halloween themed day in the shop is also brewing, with pumpkins, petals, and perhaps a treat or two for those who dare.
Behind the scenes, we are busy with hammers and paintbrushes, transforming yet another of our old cow byres. This one will soon emerge as a Tea Shed, a snug little event space where you may bring your own basket of delights, while I provide the prettiest teacups, saucers, and steaming kettles of hot water for your teas and coffees. A rustic charm with a dash of whimsy.
As the days shorten, I find myself looking forward to a season of hibernation, planning, dreaming, and resting alongside my beloved dahlias. May your own autumn be splendid, golden, and ever so cozy. And do tell me, what delights are filling your October days?
Yours most fondly,
Dearest Dahlia
